“Travis had an amazing vision for my original script, and, as a scary movie fan, I really wanted to see it,” Roth said. “I almost see this like re-staging a play, and I’m excited to see what ideas Travis and the cast bring to it.”

The original movie premiered at the 2002 Toronto Film Festival with Elwes involved in a bidding war. It wound up grossing $30 million worldwide. Voltage Pictures is handling international sales on the remake at next month’s American Film Market. Elwes and CAA are representing the domestic rights.

“Given the successes and acclaim of both Cassian and Eli, we are excited to begin our foray into media with such a team. We also feel that Chris and Tim from Armory Films are rising stars themselves,” Ike Suri said. “And let’s not forget, this is a cult classic!”

The filmmakers and producers have decided to dedicate the film to the late Susan Jackson, co-founder of Freestyle Entertainment, who executive produced the original.
